Starting Positions

There are only 16 cars on the grid. It was another bad qualifying for the driver: after coming twentieth and final in Las Vegas, leading to an eighth-place finish in the main race, he failed to advance of the first qualifying segment again on Friday. Ferrari have consequently made changes to his setup and so he will start from the pit lane.

The team's Stroll and the Alpine pair of Pierre Gasly and Colapinto are all doing likewise.

Driver Comments

"We'll use the learning for the next day," states Isack Hadjar, 11th on the grid. Expect plenty of learning.

Constructors' Championship

The focus isn't solely on the drivers' title: McLaren have dominated the constructors' gong but the team, with a 40-point lead over their rivals, will be hoping to secure the runner-up position during this event. George Russell can help them achieve that from second place, and Kimi Antonelli will begin immediately after Verstappen.

Piastri was victorious then – as he did the previous season, too. The driver from McLaren is going for a hat-trick.

Sprint Race Value

Alright, just over 20 minutes to go until the sprint race begins. Barring disaster, its main importance is as a preview of future events, instead of significant in its itself, with just eight championship points available to the victor. Mind you, the runner-up spot in this race was sufficient for the driver to become champion two years ago.
