Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session

Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The British racer, who grabbed the title advantage from Piastri by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.

Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before the sprint shootout scheduled for the evening session.

The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his team opted for a different programme.

Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he spun at Turn Four during the early running.

Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before spinning across the escape zone, and was blessed to avoid just a slight brush of the barrier.

The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the conclusion of the practice, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner leading to the last turn on to the start-finish straight.

The veteran ended the session in P19, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.

Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's car P3, 0.619 seconds slower than the Australian's time.

Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
